Eddah
EDDAH Age 6yrs. She comes from a single mother family. Her mother is unemployed. She needs assistance in paying school fees, uniform and general upkeep. Her birthday is on 6th November. She enjoys playing football and skipping the rope. There is only one adult and four children living in the household . She would like to be a doctor when she complete her studies. She is in class1. She informs me in her letter her birthday is on the 7th June :)
Update :- Eddah left the KKIN program when the fighting started over the elections and has not returned. I hvae received a letter from her mother telling me of the move and her new school and also a photo of Eddah and her sister in their new uniforms. She has grown!
I hope to write back and keep in contact although I can no longer financially support them.
Age 13 years old, Birthday 1st July, 1993. Veronica
Veronicah is aged 17. Veronica is an orphan. Her father died in 1998 and the mother died in 2000, both died of HIV/AIDS. Her guardian is an unemployed single mother, she does menial jobs to earn a living, and she has 3 children of her own to take care of. She would like to be an engineer. She has joined WHS in form one. Her brother Nicholas also joined WHS in form 1.
Update:- Veronicah left KKIN when the violence started and I have had no further contact with her. This saddens me as whe wrote wonderful letters and was a rather bright student. She was talking of becoming a Nun at one stage so maybe this has happened.
Catherine
CATHERINE Age 14 yrs. She is an orphan. Her mother died of HIV/AIDS. She now lives with a guardian a single mother of 4. She is hardworking in class and determined to make to do better all the time. She enjoy playing football. Her birth is 10th July. She is in class 6 Update:- Catherine is no longer sponsored by me as I felt she would benefit more being on full sponsorship and I could not afford that.
Lillian
Lillian is my newest addition, taking the place of Peninah.
AGE:15 Yrs old. She comes from a widowed mother family. The father died of
HIV/AIDS. The mother is unemployed and struggles to take care of these children
by doing menial jobs when her health improves. In the household live 5 children
and one adult. Lilian needs assistance in paying for her school fees, uniform
and general up keep. She is a hard working girl. She enjoys playing football.
When she completes school she would like to be a nurse. She celebrates her birthday on 9th Dec.
She has joined WHS in form one.
Jackline
JACKLINE Age 8 yrs. She comes from a single mother family. Her mother is unemployed; she needs help in paying school fees, uniform and general upkeep. She is in nursery.
